Good dental care and oral health are just as important for your pet as they are for you. With proper dental care, we can help to prevent problems such as bad breath, gum disease, and painful infections in the mouth. In addition, good oral care helps to preserve the overall health of your pet by preventing the spread of bacteria to the rest of the body.
Our staff uses a safe and effective ultrasonic scaler to clean the teeth above and below the gumline. The teeth are then polished to make them more resistant to plaque buildup and are treated with fluoride to help strengthen the enamel. Depending on the severity of dental disease, we will sometimes recommend tooth extraction to eliminate a source of pain or infection. Animals admitted for dental work are generally released from the hospital later the same day. If you have concerns about your pet’s teeth or gums and would like to discuss dental care, please let us know.
